Forward Together

What Happened Wednesday Pt. 2 // Women's Rights

The second half of Wednesday was spent with some more wonderful friends. We went and got lunch and then went to a women's rights rally being held at the city's Legislation building.

The crowd gathered inside the building. We listened to some guest speakers.

"Her name's Shadow. She's a feminist."

Camryn with her last minute feminist sign.

An accidental shot, but I love it anyways.

We met a girl at the rally who had just moved into town 3 days ago. Maggie mentioned it was her birthday so the girl gave Maggie her sign as a gift.

Look at all the Nature

What Happened Wednesday Pt. 1 // Nature

Wednesday morning, Britt took me and Hunter to the city's arboretum. We grabbed our backpacks and spent the day exploring nature.

Lots of enchanted forest vibes

"Woah that tree has eyes"

An Unexpected Day Out

This past Sunday I went to the local contemporary art museum to take a look at their newest exhibits. Not even 5 minutes after I walked in, I ran into my friend Jeremiah! The following are photo's I took on our unexpected day out together.

After soaking in the art vibes, we did what we always do. Find the nearest parking deck.

Jeremiah doin' some rooftop trespassing....

We found our friends' name etched into this brick wall from the last time we were on this particular parking deck! (Back in January. I have another post on here with a picture of her carving it in)

Overall, it was way too hot out and it was Sunday so literally everything was closed. It still ended up being a lovely day though.

By the End of the Hour

I don't have many thoughts on the matter. Just feelings.

The people and the city are the reason I wake up excited and go to sleep satisfied.

Rose Tint My World

Summer vacation only started four days ago, but it's already started off the way I hoped it would.

June 3rd:
"I want you to be part of our friend group. Like badly." She pointed out to me from the parking deck of Starbucks. "Alright." I responded nonchalantly. I didn't want it to be obvious how awesome it felt to be wanted. Fast forward to the 3rd and I'm wandering her apartment complex in search of 206.
Once everyone who was invited arrived, there were 6 of us total, including her brother. I wasn't sure what to expect from the night, but I enjoyed what I got. What I got was two large pizzas with an order of cinnamon knots on the side, which we enjoyed while watching the same episode of Double Diva's twice, a few episodes of Bob's Burger's, and who knows how many episodes of Bill Nye. If I recall correctly, Bill Nye isn't as fun to watch drunk as I expected. Although, I wasn't really drunk (because Sangria is gross, who would do that to themselves?). Two of us were though and that made for an interesting round of Never Have I Ever later on. I wanted her brother to know he wasn't as unlikable as his self-deprecating jokes would have it seem. After singing along to some Bo Burnham videos, we all passed out in whatever location we were in. In the morning, I ate way too many powdered doughnuts and went home feeling very satisfied.

June 5th:
"I want to do something tonight. Like badly." She texted me as the sun was going down.
At 10:00 pm exactly I found myself back at 206. Except this time I didn't have any trouble finding it. Tonight was Rocky Horror round 2 and I was ready. She was frantically trying to do her makeup despite the lack of lighting her new bathroom had. I ended up doing it for her. The other one was in the kitchen attempting to lace up her corset with the string I brought her. Once 10:30 hit, they each downed some of the previous nights Sangria and we went on our way. In the car the music blasted and everyone smoked with the windows rolled down. We got there by 11 and were promptly caught up on the latest drama in the Rocky community. The audience felt smaller than usual, but I think that's just because most of our friends were in the show this time. Of course we sang along to all of the songs, did the Time Warp, yelled the funny one liners, and watched while everyone threw things (I was still getting rice out of my bra and shoes when I got home..). The crowning jewel though, was that this was Matt's first time playing Rocky. Seeing his skinny white boy frame in those gold spandex underpants was a sight to behold. I don't know if round 2 was better than the first time, but it certainly met expectations. It was awesome.

(I have pictures of my friends in the show but I don't think Matt wants pictures of him in a corset on the internet)

Bleeding Our Colors

Every year, the local Alt. Rock station in the area puts on a free concert for everyone. This year the band was Cold War Kids.

When I say this was one of the most satisfying concert experiences ever, I'm being dead serious.

I'm talking crowd surfers up at least 3 at a time, beach balls being passed around at all corners, body oder and sweat to the max, every teenager in town all drinking and smoking in the same area, and everyone using up every possible bit of energy in them.

At one point my friend Mason grabbed my hand and led me through the mass of people up to the very front of the pit. With all the people up against me, plus the music and the lights, I feel like I got a real indie movie moment.

I only had one negative experience that night, which involved a college age looking guy who was dancing next to me. He kept asking if I wanted to go up to crowd surf and I said no. We had this exchange at least 5 times plus some attempt at flirtation until I had to be like "lol no please stop touching me." But BESIDES THAT 10/10 night holy crap I can't wait for next year.

I totally forgot to mention how awesome the band was too. I knew maybe two songs by CWK going in, but wow they are an awesome band. I recommend Hang Me Up To Dry (that's their most mainstream one) and Hospital Beds (seems to be a hardcore favorite among fans). There was one guy screaming for them to play Hospital Beds like it was the next Freebird.
